About

This is a fan created body of work based on the Team Fortress 2 universe, with specific interest in characters established by the blog posts as a parodical historical drama.

Three families in particular take center stage: the Manns, the Hales and the Conaghers.

Other inspirations include the Mann family parody RP account run by Nana, who's observations and insights about the Mann family helped lay much of the groundwork. And coolhorse, another artist who helped in no small part to develop the ideas behind this.

Many of the beats being explored will take cues from the mentioned blog posts specifically, and as such will disregard the more recent retcons and plot oversights laid out in the main comics.

Story Summary

The pertinent story surrounds Mann Co., a weapons manufacturing company founded by the brothers Silas and Zepheniah Mann sometime in the early 19th century.

After the family acquires a significant fortune from their booming business, Zepheniah is persuaded by his two sons to buy a significant portion of land in the New Mexico desert. In the 1850s the family makes the move from England to America, during which the old and frail Zepheniah falls deathly ill. Disillusioned, Zepheniah's resentment towards his two heirs deepens, and upon his death declares the land his sons persuaded him to buy should be divided equally between them - and that they themselves must be the ones to determine how to divide it.

What ensues is a corporate land war that lasts over a hundred years.

The Hales

(Introduction to the Hales)

At the same time, the prospering arms dealership the Mann brothers established does not return to the family. In the early days of the company's founding, Zepheniah brought one Barnabus Hale into the business. While Hale became more and more established as a partner, the elder brother, Silas, was alienated from the business he co-founded.

Sometime after their birth, the company name was changed to Zepheniah & Sons, implying Zepheniah had every intention of having one of his children inherit the company. However, now embittered and distrusting of them, Zepheniah instead dictates that his company should go to his long time business partner Barnabus Hale instead. At this point the company name is altered again: shortened to simply Mann Co.

Mann Co. goes on to be inherited by Barnabus's son, Bilious, sometime around 1900. Following Bilious, his son Saxton Hale becomes the next heir to the company.

The Conaghers

(Introduction to the Conaghers)

As the years roll on, towards the end of the 19th century, the war between Zepheniah's sons seems at an absolute stalemate, with old age lingering over their heads. One of the brothers, Blutarch Mann, employs a genius inventor in the hopes of creating a machine that will indefinitely prolong his life in the hopes of winning.

Radigan Conagher does just that.

And then, he's bribed to do the same for Blutarch's brother and ultimate rival: Redmond Mann.

Pressured to continue working for the Mann family, this has the unintended effect of drawing Radigan's son, Fred, and subsequently his grandson, Dell, into the fray - both of them are sought out and recruited by Blutarch's company, BLU.

Fred Conagher is the original engineer in the first game, Team Fortress Classic, which takes place in the 1930s - the family going from designing weaponry to becoming mecenaries within a generation. Dell follows suit, as the engineer in the second game Team Fortress 2, taking place around 1968.

This Project

Unofficially starting mid-year in 2024 up to the present, sparked by an interest in Radigan Conagher's character that gradually spread to some of the other less popular characters. This selection of related works includes writing, animation, art, short comics and solo drawings, just about any medium the artist can get their hands on.
As a constant work in progress, designs and quality of work are bound to fluctuate from piece to piece. The order drawn and the chronology are all over the place.

The Creator

Some select pieces have been proof-read, many more haven't. Credit will be given when applicable and when it's remembered, otherwise the meat of this site is the responsibility of one person. Well, of course the original characters and concepts still belong to Valve.

The influence of this particular writer cannot be understated, they've been invested in Gray Mann and the Mann family long before this project came into existence, and their passion helped in no small part to motivate many of the works within.

Coolhorse

This artist is one of the few to really expand on the Conaghers and the Manns in more depth. This project has a fair bit of commonality and there are some fascinating elaborations on these ideas.
